Deepen the Relationship Within

At various times of life in which we go through transitions that provide an opportunity for us to deepen our relationship within. A time to get to know ourselves in a deeper, more intimate way. These times are often difficult and challenging as they stretch us out of the comfort of what we know and into an invitation to go deeper within and sit in the unknown of our lives. The truth is, we never know what is next in our unfolding, yet life is often associated with loss and pain that challenge us to dig deeper inside and to ask questions we do not know the answers to quite yet.

Platitudes of “it’s meant to be” are not helpful

When I look back in my life I see the growth and opening that happened through the most difficult times. Of course, this is not something we want to tell our friends and loved ones as they are in the midst of a painful experience. Platitudes of “it’s meant to be” or “it’ll all be for the best in the end” are not helpful. They diminish the experience for the one going through the pain. Letting go into the pain and immersing yourself in silence is where the heart and soul opens. Be that same ear for those close to you. Trust yourselves and stay present to each experience.

“You must learn one thing.
The world was made to be free in.
Give up all the other worlds
Except the one in which you belong.” – David Whyte

Give both yourselves and those around you the space needed to grieve and heal. Offer the gift of listening deeply into that space and ask yourself those questions you most don’t want to ask. This will allow for opening to a deeper part of ourselves at times when our natural tendency is to close. It is by practicing this that we truly live full, open lives.

Have a wonderful week.
